Remarkablize

When Tom Augustine's daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes three years ago his life changed instantly. While learning about the disease and what he needed to do on a daily basis to keep her healthy, Tom realized something drastic had to be done. He knew he couldn't just sit back and wait for a cure to be found, he had to be part of making a cure for diabetes within reach.

While sitting on the beach during vacation, Tom was reading Seth Godin's book, Purple Cow. it was then that Tom realized what he needed to do, "I wanted to find "the next big thing," a purple cow that would do just that, raise awareness and funds for diabetes in a way that has never been done before." His idea was to make a tool that could be used universally throughout many fundraising events since most charities have a walk, run or swim.

Using his imagination and creativity, Tom developed the "within reach" Lacelet, an accessory that can be worn on a shoelace or draw string. The "within reach" message signifies that finding a cure for diabetes is within reach, but it is also a message that can inspire any one who has a dream or a goal.
