home : lacelet story

Four years ago, when I learned that my daugher had juvenile diabetes (Type 1), my world changed forever. At first I thought the worst, but I quickly went from asking "why me" to "why not me" questions. I decided to take my bad news and turn it into something positive. Lacelets are a great idea and fun to wear, but they're a lot more than that. For me, for my daugther, and for the thousands of parents, families and children affected by diabetes, Lacelets are a lifeline... A way for kids with diabetes and the ones who care for them to associate with something positive, something that recognizes them as the heroes they really are. Lacelets are a way to get people talking about diabetes, raising money for diabetes, and funding research that will take me, my daughter, and the many like her one step closer to finding a cure.
